Jesus, Just Bug Off!

If you read the title of this blog, you’re thinking, “Woman you have a big problem! Why would you, who go to church each week, lead a Bible study and run a ministry want Jesus to bug off?”

Let me explain…

This morning as I was reading Matthew Chapter 8,  I  came to a section that many of you may know well.   Jesus has been touring the local area healing people.   (That’s what God set in place for Him to do so that people would know that Jesus, too ,was God.)  He came to an area where were two men lived in the cemetery.  These men were demon possessed.

The scripture goes on to say:  “When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gadarenes, two men who were possessed by demons met him. They came out of the tombs and were so violent that no one could go through that area. They began screaming at Him, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?” There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding in the distance. So the demons begged, “If you cast us out, send us into that herd of pigs. All right, go!” Jesus commanded them. So the demons came out of the men and entered the pigs, and the whole herd plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water. The herdsmen fled to the nearby town, telling everyone what happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the entire town came out to meet Jesus, but they begged him to go away and leave them alone. Matthew 8: 29-34 NLT

aha!Let me share my Aha! moment from this scripture with hope this will help you.

As I read I realized there are many a time I say, “Jesus, Bug Off”.  How many times have I put off reading His(God’s) Word? How often have I feared to take on that challenge He has put before me? How often have I looked the other way when I see that women who looks like she needs a friend? Point is I want Him to leave me alone, not interfere but let me live my life in the same ‘ole everyday way.

This morning I made a pledge to myself to remember His Word. “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

Today I decided:

  • I will  allow Jesus (God) to interfere in my life.
  • I will allow Him to change my life for the better.
  • I want the plans He has for me.
  • I’m ready for the exciting future He has for me.
  • I’m making a leap each day to allow Him to change me.

girl-2203338_1920To start, I’ve made one small leap: As I spend  one on one time with friends or family my phone will be turned off. In making this change I can be solely focused on them.

What leap is God asking you to take?   Let me hear from you.

  1. Good points. I don’t think we think of it the way you phrased it, but it is that way. If we did that to our kids, they would feel as though they were not important to us, thus why would it be different to God. Made me think of how I approach my next visit with Jesus. God Bless.
