How to Create a Clean AND Safe Home for your Family.

As a mom, our 🧒🏼 kids watch everything we do. We are the chief mentor of everything from how to make chocolate chip cookies to how to clean a toilet.  I grew up watching my mom clean with bleach, ammonia and all things chemical. In the 60’s that was what cleaning a 🏡 house looked like.

As I took on the role of “chief house cleaner,”  in my own home, I followed her example.  I used bleach to clean my counters and toilets.  Ammonia to clean the tile floors. As time went on,  I switched from bleach and ammonia to name-brand chemical household cleaners.

Although I had a clean home, there was one question I failed to ask myself.  “Am I providing a safe  home for my family?” I  say NO❗️

Today we have the 👩🏻‍⚕️ research that shows the damage that household chemicals can do to our own health and more importantly to our kiddos health. According to the American Lung Association, “Many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or throat, cause headaches and additional health problems, including cancer. Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

VOC’s and other chemicals released when using cleaning supplies contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions and headaches. Cleaning supplies and household products contains VOC’s can include”

  • Aerosol spray products, including health, beauty and cleaning products
  • Air fresheners
  • Detergent and dishwashing liquid
  • Rug and upholstery cleaners
  • Furniture and floor polish
  • Oven cleaners

Based on this research are you providing a chemically clean home or are you providing a clean AND safe home?

If you have yet to ditch the chemicals I encourage you to do that today!

You may ask – isn’t it expensive to clean naturally? NOPE❗️ – not at all. 5 years ago I ditched and switched to Young Living’s Thieves Household Cleaner. Each concentrated 14.4 oz bottle makes up to 28 – 16 oz. bottles of Thieves Cleaner @ under $1.75 per 16 oz bottle. We clean our

  • Kitchen Counters
  • Windows
  • Bathroom Sinks
  • Patio Tables
  • Showers
  • Tile
  • Walls
  • Children’s Toys and more with Thieves Household Cleaner.

I feel 😀 confident using Thieves Household cleaner. It uses Thieves Essential Oil blend which consists of Clove, Eucalyptus, Lemon, and Peppermint Essential Oils which have antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. In addition it is created with naturally occurring surfactants derived from coconut and sugars and can be used on virtually any surface in your home.

Over the last 5 years I have added a few more 🌱natural products to my cleaning regimen. They too are inexpensive and highly effective for cleaning. I use Thieves Household cleaner as the base, then add:

  • White Vinegar to reduce soap scum and lime deposits.
  • Baking Soda as a scrub.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide boosts whiteness.
  • Lemon Essential oil helps cut heavy grease.

I still follow my mom’s excellent example of having a well-kept home. Although, instead of chemicals I now clean with natural and 🌱plant-based products.  Why?   To keep my 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family safe.   My hope for you is that you’ll do the same.
