Diffusing Anxieties in the Work Place

In the past you’ve seen the contemplative side of me.  This time, I’d like to share by using the silly side of me.  The storytelling, down on the floor playing, grandma side of me.   On this occasion,  I’m going to use a whimsical story to share the benefits of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy: inhalation or bodily application (as by massage) of fragrant essential oils (as from flowers and fruits) for therapeutic purposes.

Desert Mist DiffuserA diffuser is the most popular and simplest way to unleash the power of essential oils into the air.  The vibration of the ultrasonic steam diffuser disperses a fine mist of water and volatile organic essential oil compounds into the air.  These organic, life giving particles are then inhaled into the olfactory system (nose).  They then proceed into the lungs and limbic system (your mood center).  These micro-particles then do their magic on your mind body, and spirit.   Let’s  have fun by seeing how this works in a busy marketing office.

“Hi, I’m Daisy Diffuser.  I do my work in a marketing office in downtown Riverside, California.  I don’t work alone.  I’m  supported by  the pure essential oils  my owner Kat has purchased for me.  Our jobs are to support the staff during their day.

Stress away w flowersAs the staff walks in the door, not knowing what the day holds, I  feel their tension.   Sarah, the office manager walks over to me, pours in water and 4 drops Stress Away Essential Oil.   A few minutes later  I see the tension fall from her shoulders.

Jason, the account executive, opens his email to find a rush ad request from his client.  He passes on the request to our graphic artist, Lilly.   Lilly gets to work on the ad.   Everyone has smiles on their faces and I don’t sense any tension. I relax in knowing my work is being done.

10 am, staff meeting time! Our owner Kat walks over to me, adds purified water and 3 drops Valor. Kat summarizes the agenda for the meeting.  She then announces that big account we all landed!   I congratulate myself on my support of our staff.  I see their moods shift to fearless & daring, exactly what they need to tackle this new account.

As a side note,  I don’t have to work as hard as the rest of the staff.   I run for about 30 minutes each time, and then I’m able to kick-back and rest.

After lunch, I see the staff return.  Jason tells Kat, ‘Those fajitas were great for lunch, but I ate way too much! ‘  I have a quick scare,  ‘Oh no, they’re going to be dozing off by 2 pm.’  But Julie and I come to the rescue!   Julie opens my lid and drops in 3 drops of Peppermint,  2 drops Lemon and 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil.   I rest assured, knowing my blend will perk up their minds and bodies.  Sure enough they are as energetic as when they first began their day.

It’s 3:30; as I look around I notice staff fiddling with their phones, chatting with each other.  Oh no,  It’s the fidget hour!   Jason, knows he needs to re-focus to finish up his last project.  He comes over to say hello to me.  I know the drill;   3 drops Frankincense and 2 drops Rosemary. The focus blend!

As the day ends Kat reminds everyone they need to turn off their minds before they head home.  Kat places 3 drops of Peace and Calming Essential Oil in me to close out the day.

5 pm.  Everyone leaves, and I get the night off.   I smile thinking, “Derek Diffuser now takes  over on the night shift.   When Julie  arrives home to her husband and 2 children, Derek will have his work cut out for him.  I bet the first thing Julie diffuses is her Keep Calm Mom blend:)”
